At Mayo Elementary School, academic excellence is a tradition. Our students consistently outperform state and district averages, with 77.7% proficient in English Language Arts and 68.2% proficient in Mathematics, compared to South Carolina averages of 60.3% and 44.5%, respectively.

Visible Learning

Mayo Elementary School is an honored recipient of the Corwin Visible Learning Associate School Award and received national recognition in July 2026 for outstanding student learning and academic growth.

Through intentional collaboration with local organizations such as Hand in Hand and Women Giving, we work to ensure that students and families have access to essential resources and support, helping meet their needs both inside and outside the classroom.

Family Engagement

Mayo Elementary School values strong family partnerships and provides numerous opportunities for families to engage in their child’s education. Through well-attended events such as student-led conferences, awards and recognition programs, STEAM and literacy events, grade-level musical programs, and an annual full-scale musical production, we foster meaningful connections between home and school while celebrating student learning and achievement.
