Our Mayo Elementary School, students, staff and families had a wonderful time getting together to celebrate the Terrific Kid winners from August and September. #D2isFamily

Terrific Kids is one of the highlights of the year for both students and staff alike. This year's gathering featured the celebration of over 30 students.

“Every month, our teachers and sometimes their classmates will nominate a Terrific Kid, meaning someone who is Terrific, Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inquisitive, Friendly, Inclusive, and Capable,” said school counselor Lauren Beard. “They will nominate students who exemplify these qualities and who is able to be a role model to their peers.”

Beard said in many cases the nominations include supportive comments from fellow students!

“At the end of the year, we will nominate a Terrific Kid of the year, one student who will represent Mayo at the Kiwanis Club luncheon and receive a plaque and a certificate signed by the governor. That's what a lot of our students, especially in the upper grades, know is coming, and they get really excited,” said Beard.
